In this class you will learn how to get out of program mode and use the features of your camera that put you in control. Learn the difference between shutter, aperture and manual mode, and when to use each mode. Also learn about exposure compensation, metering and image quality.
In this class you will learn how to frame your shots for professional looking images and learn where to crop images for the strongest composition. We will also look at how to place the emphasis of your photo on your subject and not on the background. You will also learn about the rule of thirds and leading lines. This is a great class for people looking to take a step up from “snap shot” photography.
In this session you will learn the relationships between aperature, shutter speed and ISO, and how to use them to your advantage. Are you trying to freeze action, give the feeling of movement, create a soft out of focus background, or create an image with front to back sharpness and detail. By the end of this class you will have mastered all these techniques.
This class is for people who would like to learn techniques for getting great close up shots of flowers, insects and other small subjects. We will discuss the types of equipment you need and how to achieve the desired depth of field for close up images. An understanding of the basic functions of your camera are a pre-requisite for this class.
Using long-exposures of 5-15 minutes (or even longer) can lead to striking fine art black and white images. In this class you will learn about the equipment that is required to make these types of images and about the techniques needed to create these dramatic, dreamy shots. For inspiration, check out some of the photography by artists like Michael Levin, and Marc Koegel, or my Land and Sea post. A sturdy tripod and knowledge of your basic camera functions are pre-requisits for this class.
