Fort Pike Louisiana – December 2014

A couple of shots from Fort Pike. Fort Pike is located about 23 miles east of New Orleans. It was constructed in the early 1820’s to add fortification to the coast after the war of 1812. Fort Pike, along with several other forts along the Gulf, protected strategic ports and rivers such as New Orleans and the Mississippi.

Most of these shots were taken in my backyard in Gautier Mississippi. A few others were taken on a walk through the neighbourhood. The last three images, of the osprey were taken just a few miles away on the Pascagoula River.

Some photos I took during a three day visit to New Orleans with my sister mid-November. This was my first, of hopefully many, trips to this wonderful city. I am looking forward to exploring some more at Christmas with Paul and my daughters. Hope you enjoy!
